The passing of a noble soul - reprise

June 16, 20252 min read

Last Wednesday, June 11, marked the one-year anniversary of my mother leaving this world for the rest of us to carry on her wonderful legacy. I thought it would be a fitting tribute to reshare the SCI blog I wrote about her last year at this time.

Be sure to read the Inside Out blog I wrote about her years ago that you can find through the link near the end of this tribute. Hope you find it as enlightening and inspiring as I do. 😊

Last week, my mother passed away, and the world lost the shining light of a noble soul.  She lived a life of extraordinary ups and downs during her 93 years that most people could barely imagine, and she prevailed magnificently through it all.

Born in Florence, Italy in 1930, she lived her childhood years in Paris, France, and then returned home to Florence where she remained until coming to this country in 1946.  She was a wonderful storyteller, and her tales of what she experienced in Italy during World War II were a wild and fascinating montage of horror, humor, resourcefulness, endurance and triumph.

She was exceptionally bright, multi-talented, marvelously engaging, and dedicated to serving others. She eventually turned those special qualities into becoming an Arthurs Murray dance instructor, and later a successful business woman in the fashion industry with Queen’s Way to Fashion.

Several years ago, I wrote one of my Inside Out blogs about her talents and accomplishments, along with insights she shared with me when I asked for her advice on how to get employees to go above and beyond.

Her answers go to the heart of what employees are willing and able to contribute when you appreciate the truths and realities about human nature in the workplace, and you realize the implications for engaging them in systematic continuous improvement.
